Financial Times China Healthcare and Life Science Summit: Innovation in China's Healthcare Reform

The China Healthcare and Life Science Summit was co-organized by Financial Times and the UK Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo to discuss China's fast developing healthcare reform.
Mr. George Baeder, Partner and head of Monitor Group's life science practice, commented that it is very challenging to develop a healthcare system that caters for 1.3 billion Chinese people. Sustainable Innovation in therapy and business model should be in place.
Mr. Baeder also noted that China has caught up with developed nations in its quality of healthcare in tier 1 cities, while the lower tier cities is another story. It would be a huge challenge for the country to train and educate its doctors and practitioners in the remote areas, given the size and complexity of the nation.
