Monitor Group Selected as One of China's Most Important Companies (2008-11)

Selected from more than 1,500 firms, Monitor represents top tier of businesses operating in China

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., November 7, 2008 – The China Enterprise Confederation has selected Monitor Group as one of 60 leading multinational corporations which have made the greatest contributions to China in the 30 years since the country instituted economic reforms.

"For more than 15 years, Monitor has supported innovation in business, government and Chinese society and this award recognizes the positive contribution we have made to the economy and the country," said Ed Hotard, Chairman of Monitor Group in China. "This award is particularly gratifying because it highlights our commitment to China's economic and sustainable development, thereby improving the standard of living for all Chinese citizens."

Monitor was chosen from more than 1,500 companies in a six-month process that included evaluations by 25 experts and voting by Chinese business and government leaders, as well as readers of China Enterprise News, Sina.com and Eastmoney.com.

Monitor was honored in Beijing on Nov. 7 and 8, at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. The event, Grow Together with China—The High-Level Forum to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Reform and Opening Up in Multinational Corporations, will recognize honorees, "... for the prominent contributions to the development of China's economy, technological innovation, management innovation and the healthy development of industry and improvement of Chinese citizens' standard of living."

  • Monitor has worked closely with the Chinese Government to help China regions develop economically and build strong industrial bases. For example Monitor has helped Shanghai develop a vibrant Life Sciences industry by planning and growing the Shanghai Pudong Life Sciences cluster. Monitor has also helped to design and build some of the first eco-cities and sustainable real estate development projects in China, pioneering the concept of sustainable development in China.
