| Introduction
Tom Copeland is chief corporate finance officer and head of Monitor Cor-porate Finance. He has been a consultant to over 200 companies in 34 countries around the world, and is a leading authority on valuation. He is co-author, with J. Fred Weston, of Financial Theory and Corporate Policy and Managerial Finance. With Tim Koller and Jack Murrin, he has co-authored Valuation: Measuring and Managing the Value of Companies. Copeland received his B.A. in economics from Johns Hopkins University and MBA in finance from Wharton School, where he graduated sec-ond in his class. Copeland's Ph.D. in applied economics was granted by the University of Pennsylvania.
